About Easy Grammar Systems

Easy Grammar Systems is a secular mastery-based remedial language arts supplement. Easy Grammar is not a comprehensive language arts course. Bridgeway offers Easy Grammar for grades 3 through 7. Bridgeway students may use this as an elective.  Easy Grammar Systems offers clear explanations and examples, which make it easy for students to understand and apply grammar concepts.  Easy Grammar uses a unique approach to learn the parts of speech by laying the foundation with prepositions and prepositional phrases. The curriculum is designed to be self-teaching, so older students can work independently, with minimal instruction from a parent or teacher.

What Makes Easy Grammar Systems unique?

Easy Grammar Systems teaches grammar through sentence diagramming. Diagramming helps students visualize the structure of a sentence and understand how the different parts of speech fit together. This curriculum includes lots of practice and review, which helps students master the concepts. This course offers a hands-on, and visual approach to understanding sentence structure.

Easy Grammar Systems is known for:

Being easy to use and introducing students to the discipline of sentence diagramming. It is a remedial grammar course for those students who need additional practice learning correct sentence structure.

What is the format for Easy Grammar Systems?

Easy Grammar is the name of the teacher’s text and is intended to be paired with Daily Grams workbooks for review. Bridgeway only sends the Easy Grammar teacher’s text when students are enrolled in this course. Parents need to make copies of the worksheets in the teacher text for student practice or the student may write in the teacher text. Tests are included in the teacher text, but the answers are clearly visible on the left side of the page, so parents will need to make copies of the tests before administering them to the student. If you prefer not to make copies, Easy Grammar’s website does offer the Daily Grams student workbook and a test packet for purchase on your own.

The Easy Grammar website has placement tests available because levels do not necessarily correspond to grade level. Depending on your student’s grammar background knowledge, a student may be placed in a higher level.

What instructional approach does Easy Grammar Systems use?

Easy Grammar Systems is designed to be self-teaching, so students can work independently, with minimal instruction from a parent or teacher. The curriculum includes clear explanations and examples, which make it easy for students to understand and apply the grammar concepts they are learning. Additionally, the curriculum includes a lot of practice and review, which helps students to solidify their understanding of the grammar concepts.

Does Easy Grammar Systems allow my student to work on their own?

Elementary students will need instruction and guidance from the parent. Older, more experienced students may work on their own. There is a lot of repetition and review.

If I am using this curriculum, what will a day/lesson look like?

  •  Exercises are completed to practice and reinforce concepts.
  • The student reviews the material covered in the previous lessons.
  • The student practices more with the additional exercises.
